  • Playing with Fire: 3 Foods To Grill This Weekend

Written by Jay on Sep 22, 2011

For those of you in cooler climes, September means end-of-summer barbecues. But we advocate heating up the grill no matter where you are. Nothing says manliness like open flame, so we appreciate Guy Gourmet's "10 Foods Every Man Must Grill Before He Dies" guide.

We'd place those 10 items somewhere between "Visiting the pyramids of Giza" and "Publishing a novel." Because grilling up a lobster sounds like a lot more fun than producing a novel. Tastier, too.

We'd like to humbly contribute 3 suggestions

    1) Avocados. Grilled avocados? It's not blasphemy, it's delicious! Brush them in olive oil, season, and grill away. If you use properly ripened one, it will crisp up on the outside and remain softer on the inside. Or mash them up into guac for a dip with extra flavor.

    2) Pizza. High heat is what produces beautiful pizza crust. Make simple pizza on the grill and watch the compliments fly. A quality place to apply your signature char. (Check out this grilled pizza recipe from Serious Eats)

    3) S'mores. Don't wait for a camping trip to make these. Believe us, your guests (and you) will appreciate this classic combo of melting chocolate, burnt marshmallow, and graham cracker.

What do you like to throw on your grill?
